Tips & shortcuts

Quick reminder for editing, time input, navigation and hidden controls.

Shift + clickEdit track titles, track descriptions, element titles, element notes, marker titles and marker time.

Shift + click timeEdit element duration, subelement duration, or marker position directly.

EnterSave an inline text/time edit.

EscCancel text editing, or close small menus/panels.

Time can be written as 00:00:00, 30:00, or as plain minutes like 240.

Drag empty spacePan around the timeline canvas.

Ctrl/Cmd + scrollZoom the timeline horizontally.

Drag sidewaysMove or resize elements in 1-second steps.

Shift + dragMove/resize in 5-second steps, and snap element edges to other elements.

Drag up/downChoose the manual lane/top-bottom position of elements and subelements.

Overview barDrag the viewport to jump through the full timeline.

Overview handlesDrag the sides of the overview window to zoom in/out.

Track +Choose whether to add an element or a marker to that track. New elements automatically rotate through different colours.

Element +When an element is unfolded, use the + button above the subelement area to add a subelement.

••• barClick the bottom bar of an element to fold or unfold its subelements.

Colour pillUse the pill under the element duration to change the element colour.

Ctrl/Cmd + ZUndo.

Ctrl/Cmd + YRedo.

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + ZRedo alternative.

Ctrl/Cmd + CCopy selected element.

Ctrl/Cmd + VPaste copied element.

Ctrl/Cmd + DDuplicate selected element with the copy snapped directly to the right of the original.

Delete / BackspaceDelete selected element or selected subelement.

↑ / ↓Move selected element or marker to the track above or below.
